I am pretty sheltered when it comes to music, really. Cat Stevens > Cat Power Peter Tosh > Bob Marley Tonight I'll call you from a 4th street payphone and I'll sleep on the beach if we ain't got a ride yeah I'll sleep on the beach all night.
Movies:
When I first saw Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, I had no fucking clue why in the hell they had Chinese subtitles. Oh, how far I've come. CTHD is my favorite movie, along with O Brother! Where Art Thou? I enjoy these movies a lot, but I think they are mostly my favorites because of the association they have with me seeing them in theaters. It was in fifth grade, and that's a time that I often think about and long to return to. Does that make me a little bit shallow, to let nostalgia dictate my preference in art? Probably. Okay, now for an honest to goodness list (not counting the above two, which I do love), finally: The Big Lebowski, Forrest Gump, Dark City, Dark Crystal, Legend, The Labyrinth, Genghis Blues, Paprika, Moon... To be continued.
Television:
Television is best used for Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo.
Books:
I'm an illiterate pig farmer (who loves Jack Kerouac.)
Outside of Ti-Jean, I'm pretty much not one to read fiction. Chuck Palahniuk makes it doable. Then there's non-fiction, like Fist, Stick, Knife, Gun, this book about Chinese people in America before Columbus and the wikings.
Then there's memoirs. I love living your life, especially if you're Anthony Bourdain. Kitchen Confidential helps me not feel insane.
